The steps for multiplying two numbers:

Write the two numbers one below the other, lining up the digits according to their place values.

Starting from the rightmost digit of the second number, multiply it with the digits of the first number one by one, and write the resulting products below the numbers.

Add up the products from each column.

If the sum of the products is a one-digit number, then you have the answer. If it is a number with more than one digit, then you need to carry over the excess to the next column.

Repeat steps 2-4 for each column until you have multiplied all the digits of the second number with the first number.

The final answer is the sum of all the products.

Here’s an example to illustrate the steps:

Let’s say we want to multiply 24 and 35.

24
x 35
—-
120 (4 x 5)
72 (4 x 3 + 2 x 5)
—-
840
So, the answer is 840.
